Chesterfield Strikers ADP coach, Lauryn Hutchinson, will be representing the Trinidad & Tobago women’s national soccer team in hopes of qualifying for the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
Lauryn and the Women Soca Warriors are in the Final Tournament stage of the qualifying process for the 2019 World Cup. T&T are in a 4-team group with defending World Cup Champions, USA, as well as Mexico and Panama. The top two in the group advance to the knockout stage.
Having made 22 international caps and scoring 4 international goals, Lauryn heads into her second World Cup qualification process after playing an important role in the 2014 team. She previously competed in two Pan-American Games (2011 & 2015) and has now been a member of the Trinidad & Tobago team for 7 years.
This past summer, Lauryn played for the Richmond Strikers CCL Pro23 team. She was also a member of the VCU women’s soccer team and graduated in 2013. Lauryn received her Master’s from the Center for Sport Leadership at VCU in 2014.
The Strikers were able to ask Lauryn about the upcoming games for the Trinidad & Tobago national team, she responded saying, “Qualifying for a World Cup is a rare opportunity. It comes once every four years and only a select few get to compete. Words can't explain how grateful I am for everyone that has helped my teammates and I get to where we are today. Not only am I representing Trinidad & Tobago, I'm representing Virginia Commonwealth University, ĒVLV, FYP, and every club I've played/coached for.
Between my physical therapist Maral Javadifar and current playing club, Richmond Strikers, I am prepared physically and mentally more than ever to be my best for the team so we can qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. The dream is ALIVE!”
The Strikers want to wish Lauryn and the Trinidad & Tobago Women Soca Warriors the best of luck!
